TIL The Catholic Church considers the Theory of Evolution to be "virtually certain", and believes that intelligent design "isn't science even though it pretends to be."

You must be a Roman Catholic then because Peter was certainly not the first pope.

Then who was? I'm genuinely interested because this is the first time I've ever heard this claim and I have yet to see you cite anything to back this up.

No where in the bible does it say it.

Matthew 16:13-18

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood,c but by my Father in heaven.d 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hadesc will not overcome it.

Eli5; 'Peter' was a Aramaic name (cephas) which meant "rock". Peter was the first pope and migrated to Rome after Jesus' death. It is also to be noted that every time a list of the apostles is given in the bible, Peter is the first name to be listed Mt. 10:2; Mk 3:16-19; Lk 6:13-16 and the angel tells Mary Magdalene to go and tell his disciples and specifically Peter that He is risen.

There is no historical evidence to prove this link either.

The churches authority also includes the historical aspect of the papacy as well as the fact that the books of the bible didn't begin to compile into one until centuries after Christ's death suggests that tradition superceded scriptural interpretation and scriptural interpretation was the duty of the church and not up to the individual.

In fact, personal interpretation of Scripture didn't occur until the mid 1500s when the bible was translated from Latin into vernacular (see: Martin Luther) meaning that personal interpretation is arbitrary and is not even supported on a historical basis or through the bible itself.

If you want to cite some early church fathers out of context, please be my guest.

Feel free to substantiate any of your claims, I'm still waiting.
