TIL Jack Black desperately wanted to use a Led Zeppelin song in School Of Rock but the band was notoriously reluctant to let their music be used in films. The director suggested having Black record a personal plea to the band members, in front of a crowd of 1,000 extras. It worked.

I don't know, I played it for a car full of people not saying what it was and they went this is Stairway to Heaven. I don't care when peeps take a bit of music as long as they credit the OG artists which they didn't for a good portion of songs. A lot of those artists could have really used the name recognition at the time especially the black ones that really got limited radio play and little money. Led Zeppelin aren't the only ones that did it, but they may be the most prolifc for how many. The thing that can't be taken away is the talent of taking something like When the Levee Breaks and making that drum beat into a classic. It's pretty weird to not let movies use songs that based on others songs, but that's just like my opinion.
