TIL that on the set of Kill Bill, Uma Thurman had been on a serious car crash because director Quentin Tarantino insisted she perform her own driving stunts. Thurman knew the car wasn't safe but Tarantino insisted and she caved. Thurman permanently damaged her neck and her knee.

She even says she knew it was a bad idea, didn't like the setup with the car, but made the conscious decision to go along with it anyway. Nothing forced her to do her own stunts.

No one's "spewing bile" at her. Simply saying she is an adult who made the decision to take personal responsibility over her health, and it didn't work out well. It's a shame, and others certainly share the blame. That being said, she was in a MUCH better position to handle those injuries than most other people. Not to mention, some people are exposed to this level of danger, or worse, every day, for years on end, as opposed to a single scene (mutliple shoots probably) in a single movie.
