Tilapia skin is being tested as a better alternative to traditional bandages

I am a plastic surgeon practicing in the US. I met Dr. Edmar Maciel, (the doctor shown in the video, who is the coordinator of the study), at a medical conference in the US a few years ago. He discussed his research of tilapia skin with me and a few other medical professionals and I was intrigued by the pace in which the study was going. I did not anticipate such studies taking place in the US anytime soon so I flew south to Brazil last year to meet with him. I saw promising results in all 4 of the patients at the time. This skin is used basically for an improved healing process more so then a better result. I asked Dr. Maciel when he first had the research idea. He told me when he saw Mankind plummet sixteen feet through an announcer's table as a result of the Undertaker throwing him off Hell In A Cell in nineteen ninety eight, he was shocked that Mankind did not lose any skin. As a precautionary measure, he sought to find an improved healing process. His first idea was using jumper cables to electrify the healing process. That did not go as planned. The rest is history. I applaud Dr. Edmar Maciel and his team for their amazing work.
