TlDR: together 9 years, I want marriage but my partner doesn’t - didn’t tell me that at the start.

The thing I always ask people when they say they want to get married is, do you want a marriage or a wedding?

My husband and I are both 25 and have been together for 9 years. We got married when we did because he was going into the military (we had been together 4.5 years at the point). The only thing that has changed since we got married is a piece of paper that binds us together. I could have changed my name before we got married, we lived together before we got married…. Everything still is and still would be the same without that piece of paper. I’m happy we got married but I’m not happy that we still have yet to have a wedding (keeps getting promised but always gets put on the back burner). It’s ok to want a wedding but are you only wanting a wedding/the ceremony or do you want a marriage? It sounds like y’all are already married, just without the piece of paper & the ceremony.
