Tomorrow's Christmas Eve, and I'm a parish pastor. AMA!

Seriously though, why do you hide behind humor?

I know you. I know you're hurting. I know you want children, I know you want to make a better world for them. I know it pains you to see other Christians do awful things, and I know it makes you sick every time you have to tell yourself that they're not really Christians. I know you hate yourself every time you see someone in pain and decide to pray for them instead of doing something. I know you came here to do this AMA to test your mettle against these godless redditors, and I know that there's a tiny little thing inside you that wonders whether they might all be right.

All I can say is that I understand why you won't accept the truth: you're afraid. And that's okay. What's not okay is not ever confronting that fear, ignoring it by making jokes. Someday, though, you're going to have to make a choice, and your life depends on it.
