Trump-Kim talks end 'without agreement'

In return I want to inspect your facilities to get an idea of what your current nuclear capabilities and I want you to stop any more development, you already have a nuke, I just don't want you to make more.

They gave up on accounting and inspections before going in, so probably not. Kim's got everything he wants out of this, which was doing all sorts of tests before the Olympics. He knew SK wouldn't green light any retaliation before the even and he gets to de-escalate once the Olympics actually swing around so he's not tagged with any major repercussions. Trump's just going through the motions to distract from his scandals.

Now, the side-benefit is that China has to ease trade tensions with SK to lobby for repealing sanctions and the Won stays low when it dips from these "disappointments."

The irony is, with an aging population in SK and reduction in Time in Service of draftees, this is probably the last chance we can throw around even the hint of an Allied military option. From here on out, it's going to take another natural disaster in NK.
