If people aren't concerned about this issue then why is there acute social hysteria about it?

Don't get me wrong, I've worked with trans clients and facilitated treatment, accommodation, financial assistance, but this is not a cut and dried issue at all, there is not a sicial consensus on this issue.

I once had a client who identified as female, despite having a history of aggressive sexual assaults on women and being a flasher. After treating this patient for an acute schizoaffective episode I was asked to facilitate discharge to a hostel for vulnerable women. This person, being mentally ill was clearly vulnerable and identified as a woman, but this presented me with an ethical problem and I had to argue against this transfer in strong terms. I was subjected to abuse from various quarters and called a transphobe.

I would have serious concerns about this person being in a female toilet.

This is a complicated issue and social consensus is not in line with that of tumblr, henve the hysteria.
