U.S. to announce sanctions next week on countries and individuals involved in corruption and serious human rights abuses to 'undermine democracy' around the world

I'm Colombian, Colombia is the biggest ally/client state of the US in the region, early this year there were massive protests that ended up with insane levels of violence by security forces, countless videos of excessive force, police opening fire randomly into crowds, beatings, tortures, rapes, forced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, homes of activists being raided for no reason, they even started cutting down power and internet signal into hot spots right before they would go in for the attack, missing protesters sometimes later on appeared dead floating on rivers with signs of torture and execution.

The Biden's admin response? Some nothing statements about respecting human rights and then they proposed to increase monetary aid for the Colombian government by 17%.

It's hard to know whether to cry or laugh about how utterly farcical the world truly is.
