Universal health care bill fails to pass in California

Why wouldn't you do a very large tax? All I said was it's stupid to say only new York and California have the population to support universal healthcare when we have tons of examples of other places doing it with smaller populations.

In 2020 the average cost for an individual health plan was $456, and $1,152 for a family plan. The average household income is $67,521. That means the average household is paying 20% of their income on health insurance. And that doesn't include the employer paid portion. So why would you expect to be able to replace that without a significant tax increase?

It can be done, and it will require a large tax increase, and your average family will still come out better in the end.
