Unreasonable to not be "support crew" for spouse at multisport event?

I agree sith you and a few people have said to me it's selfish for him to compete in this type of event at this stage of our lives. I'm not sure I agree. It's a bit time commitment but something we agreed on for one year only. My main gripe, as you point out above is this new event which is $500 & the expectation I will travel up too to be support crew without a discussion first. I thought a few semi local marathons would be the extent of training events. I see why he wants to do this one but IMO it's enough of an ask to leave for a couple of days for your hobby and too much to drag the whole family along (from both a financial point of view and also in respect of valuing my/the kids time)
