Unusual triggers? - makeup, being attracted to someone.... WTF?!?!

Thanks. I wasn't diagnosed with OCD until I was in my mid-twenties. So for the majority of my life I felt like I was alone and there was no one else like me out there. Even after getting diagnosed I knew there were others that had the same symptoms as me but not necessarily the same triggers and such. I saw a number of different doctors about it and the majority of them seems like they were trying to tell me how I was feeling and what I was thinking verses asking me what I was feeling and thinking. Once I finally got one the asked instead of told it made a big difference. So when I'm talking to people I try and do the same because it was so effective for me. One thing that also really helped me is I ended up finding a friend at work that has almost all of the exact same triggers and compulsive actions as me. It finally opened my eyes and showed me that we're really not alone in our struggles. Regardless of how strange and embarrassing they seem to us.
