It’s precisely this kind of change in Catholic thinking (of which this is one example of many) that has lead many people in this subreddit to see Catholicism as inconsistent with itself, thereby invalidating it as a legitimate belief system.

I’m glad that you enjoy your faith and find meaning in it, but that does not make Catholicism’s inherent contradictions any less real. Some people also think Tupac is still alive, but that does not make him any less dead.
