Walmart apologizes for sign marketing guns as back-to-school items

Judging by your other comments you are open to an actual discussion. So I'll ask:

Remove NFA restrictions and legalize suppressors, SBRs, and machine guns.

Why? I get the short barrel riffle point;if we can have handguns why can't we have short barrel rifles or shotguns? I'm with you on that. But why should suppressors and machine guns be legal? Outside of cutting down on noise while at the shooting range (should be wearing ear protection anyway) why would you need a suppressor? I can't really think of a scenario where that'd be necessary for a civilian. And to the machine gun: why? Like I get it if you want to be able to go to a range and pay for some time to rack out a few hundred rounds. Yea, go for it. Make it legal to go to a range and be able to shoot just about any damn gun you want. But ownership? I can think of exactly 0 reasons that that is a good idea. Just look at the shootings we currently have. (Before I continue yes I'm aware of the statistics [most gun crimes come from illegally purchased weapons]). Quite a few of the mass shootings (not one offs) we've had in the last few years were committed with legally purchased weapons. The most advanced of which being an ar15. Imagine if those guys had machine guns. How much more damage could they have done?

Now to be clear I'm not against gun ownership. Guns have been in my life since I was a child, but I still think we need to keep some tabs on that.
