My independent project, entitled "Still the Same", is about the connection between humans and robots. In my artwork, two faces are connected to eachother by the nose, and while one face is rightside up, the other face is upside down. The faces are broken into different colored pieces, almost like a mosaic.

One face is meant to be that of a human, the other a machine/robot. For the human, I used flesh colored pencils to fill in its pieces, while for the robot, I used cool colors, like green, blue, and violet. I used these colors to help distinguish between the two faces. Also, around both faces, I used mainly constrast colors, so the faces could stick out and be easily seen.

My theme was basically the connection between humans and machines. I used my theme to steer alot of the direction in my piece. My theme really didnt make creating my art any more difficult or easier than it already was.

My planning process was pretty simple, I just researched things like "retrofuturism" and "cyborgs" until I came up with something. I actually got a large amount of inspiration from a picture in the art room. The steps I was asked to take included: looking up multiple pictures that related to themes I created, narrowing down my pictures and themes, and then finding more inspiration for my final chosen theme.

My biggest challenge in creating this piece was choosing the correct colors to properly convey which tones and feelings I wanted my art to show. What I like most about my piece is that its dynamic use of shapes and colors allow for it to be looked at in many different ways. If I were to do this project all over, I would try to draw my human face with a more expressive face, so it can constrast to my robot face even more.

I believe Thinker was demostrated during the creation of my work, because I put multiple thoughts and feelings into this art.
