Washington state senator slammed for saying nurses 'play cards' for 'considerable amount of the day'

Sen. Maureen Walsh, why don't you come out to Central WA and see how fucking overworked our nurses are?

Every single health care facility I know if here is skimping on nursing staff to save money, meaning the ones with jobs are being expected to do an insane amount of crap, and they're punished if they take any overtime. So they work during their breaks to keep important things from falling through the cracks. Plenty of things still get missed, and patients suffer as a result.

I even have a couple stories where it's killed people. "Oops we let your opioid prescription fall through the cracks and you've been following your pain contract diligently, which means you're about to be in incredible pain just because we didn't have time to do the paperwork for a schedule II substance. Sorry you were so desperate as a result of our error that you got your hands on some heroin and accidentally/intentionally overdosed."
