Weekly Complaint Thread - 24 November 2016

I get that you guys like to mock JETs for being terrible at life - but they tend to have a broad variety of skills, often with professional experience.

Right, which is why they do nothing but recruit out of universities... Why do you think they send people over in July, despite the fact the Japanese school year begins in April?

That's the kind of thing JETs contribute - stuff that we take for granted in our home cultures, but that Japanese people simply aren't as good at as we are.

Wow... for someone preaching all this hippy-tolerance bullshit you sure do sound mildly racist.

Japan doesn't have clubs, organisations or charities? And we need foreigners to educate the simple Japanese in the way of them? What planet are you living on? If its one thing the Japanese do well, and something we should be learning from them - its how they organize themselves. A Japanese person's life from kindergarten to high-school is essentially a parade of after-school activities and clubs. I'm sure those of us with kids can testify to that.

Again, go ahead and keep mocking them - I hate JET, too - but don't pretend that they are all stupid, useless, failures at life.

I don't mock them because they are failures, I mock them because they believe in the type of absolute bullshit that you have spouted. JET is not a revolutionary programme, nor is it something that should be held as a paragon for cross-cultural exchange. The year is 2016. Kids are far more plugged into foreign cultures and countries now then they were 20 years ago. When you have JET going around to this day producing literature that makes these inaka Japanese people like some sort of African pygmies - its kinda mildly insulting.
