If you thought the worst part of C21 was the handgun ban then you have no idea what the bill actually is. The bill would allow virtually anybody to make a petition to a judge to have person x’s firearms seized based off baseless and proof-less allegations. No investigation, no validation, nothing. Police will have the power to storm your house and take your shit without question because Joe citizen was scared. AKA swatting. People have died from swatting. This country, regardless of how dogshit it’s become, is still a nation of laws and if one random person can completely destroy your life through a lopsided judicial process that has 0 oversight or fail safe, then this country isn’t worth the Buffalo shit on a nickel.
The three classes are inherently used to say that the government has different levels of trust based on arbitrary features of firearms which, in and of itself, is baseless and illogical. For you to agree with keeping it that way means that you yourself agree that the government should trust YOU differently based on what you choose to own. If you’re willingly saying “hey Mr government, you should trust me less because I have handguns”, then you have 0 business owning guns to begin with. If you can’t be trusted fully with a handgun, then you shouldn’t be trusted with a single shot Iver-Johnson either. Same goes for the rest of that bullet point of yours.
this point proves you’ve likely never left your little village that you reside in. Southern Ontario, based on geographical considerations, is more rural than urban and has an incredible number of conservative voters. If anything, it’s those major cities that “need” CCW more than buttfuck nowhere northern Ontario. Once again, backwards logic on your part.
What you’re doing is some ass-backwards gerrymandering that legitimately has no basis only to suit your individual needs. You’re prepared to hypothetically fuck over a huge majority of PAL holders so that your village will lay off of you.
People like you are exactly why we are where we are. In fact, people like you are effectively worse because you speak all of this absolute nonsense as a “gun owner”.
I understand everyone who makes these comments is speaking from a hypothetical perspective, but I truly hope you aren’t sharing this with people who don’t know any better because then they’ll cite you as a gun owner and say “see? This guy is a gun owner and he thinks xyz and it’s pretty in line with anti gun rhetoric”.
You are literally doing the exact same thing as trudeau, who divides and pits the nation against itself. You are willing to sacrifice millions of dollars in privately owned property, countless jail time years, and very likely lives, just because you’re butthurt that your remote village is under the influence of the “big cities”. Nothing about your opinion is reasonable, logical, rational, or “middle ground”, which are things you claim to have based your hypothetical around, but objectively speaking, all it shows is how much you’re pandering to scared people who don’t know better while secretly hoping that a vast majority of gun owners get fucked over so you can have maybe 0.6% more freedom.
