I weigh 270 pounds and I need help.

Hil Blackjosh234. Totally know how you feel, the first time I took on weight loss, I was a high school junior weighing in at 200 and I got myself down to 150. To be honest, I did it mostly on my own and it seemed to be reading the internet just seemed to mess up my progress, stint it, or just do nothing...

Pro Tip: Stay simple. When you first start out, you're going to have to take it super easy. I wouldn't try implementing these workout routines yet until you feel comfortable even exerting yourself--start off with light cardio for a few weeks, warm up into exercise and then proceed to add strength training, etc etc.

Try jogging (at your own comfortable pace) until you feel like you can't run anymore, that's your limit. That's how I knew what my max was and I pushed it, week after week, increasing my mileage as the weeks passed. Next thing I know, I was powering through 5 mile workouts (I could hardly get through 1 at first).

Now for strength training, I started out super simple. I could hardly do a curl-up with an 8 lbs dumbbell. I did 30 reps a day, increasing weights as the dumbbells got easier. Eventually, I ended up at 35 lbs per arm and was pumping iron. That's how I started off my strength training.

Up to this point, everything was done at home. I had slimmed down to some 170 lbs or so and my progress had plateaued.... I joined planet fitness, continued my daily runs and after each run, I would just go around each "machine" making sure to hit all groups of muscles a day-- doing some 20 reps on each machines with the max weight I could handle. Eventually, I kept losing weight and gaining muscle. I got down to 150 at first but then I ended up bulking up to 160 lbs.

Here is kind of a picture representation of what I looked like before and after over the period of a year. Unfortunately, I no longer look like that again and I'm somewhat of a halfway transition state between the two pictures at the moment (college makes you hellah fat... but I'm getting back into it again)
