What is anti-Americanism?

No one claims the US is back to back Champs and means it. We all know and are taught it was the Allied forces who did it, of which we played a part. People who write that are being obnoxious simply (and successfilly) to get a rise out of others.

Right... that's kind of my point, though. Whether they believe it or not, it's shit that (some) Americans say. It's stereotypical behaviour. You don't see Australians saying it, whether sincerely or not.

They too would never consider themselves Irish as the same as someone from Ireland.

Go to /r/ShitAmericansSay, when I check a couple of hours ago the top two posts were Americans claiming to be Irish while insulting the actual Irish, one explicitly saying he was more Irish than them. Again, you can say no one seriously believes that. But it is an American thing to do. And there are plenty of examples of Americans claiming that they drink excessively because of their Irish heritage, and I'm fairly sure they're serious. Again, that's a stereotypical American behaviour. If Canadians say it, then that's bad also. The only reason Canadians posting that stuff isn't posted to /r/ShitCanadiansSay is because they don't say it as often, and there are less Canadians on here to say it. It's not because of inherent anti-Americanism.

No one in the US thinks that "London" is a no go zone. We have seen news reports about areas within Londodn which have been dispelled here on Reddit, but that would be the same as some of the insane things people outside the US may have been told or learned from their news about places in the US.

I was exaggerating a bit, but the myth must not have been dispelled enough. Just recently with the election of Sadiq Khan as mayor of London, there were dozens of Americans referring to the no-go zones that do not exist. Again, I'm just saying that you will not hear that kind of nonsense from a Kiwi. People having insane ideas about the US is again, less common on Reddit. We do not really have a Fox News feeding us lies about no-go zones in America. The only thing I can think of is the belief that Detroit is shitty.

I didn't really want to debate these points, especially not on a subreddit full of Americans. I'm never going to win that one. My main point was that the existence of /r/ShitAmericanSays is not evidence of anti-Americanism. It is evidence that a lot of stupid stuff is said by Americans on this website.
