I wish I knew this beforehand. My parents were misguided but very much intended well. My dad had to dropout of college to move back and help his family. My mom was only allowed to go to college if she studied education or nursing due to my old fashioned grandfather. She did not want to study either but got an education degree to get out of her small town.

Raising me they were very big in the belief that I should go to college to study what I am interested in. It was a lovely sentiment and well intentioned, but looking back now, itnot the financially wise move to make.

I don't hold it against them though. I completely understand how their life experiences influenced how they raised me. If I could go back I would have gone down a very different path
