Our apartment block and what made it the best was the diversity.

We were just a bunch of punk kids and we always played shitty loud music. All the cool black kids from Detroit lived on the floor below us and above us, lived a bunch of hot coeds and gay guys.

One night, while I'm doing calculus hw, the girls come down stairs and ask our mechanical engineering roommate for physics help. He agrees and we start to drink and do homework. The bois from below show up and ask for a GameCube controller (for smash brothers). Then they invited us down because their DJ friend wanted to come party and spin shit downstairs.

FYI, If you got some hood friends, I implore you, DO NOT challenge them in fighting games.

We politely decline so he walks away with out controller.

Their music starts to blast and the girl from upstairs, one of the whitest girls on the planet, goes 'OH EM GEE I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG'

So she proceeds to blast it on our TV that's hooked up to our computer. One side is her physics ppt, and the other side is now this hood ass rap song.

The bois from downstairs come back up, this time with a whole posse of dudes. We don't lock doors so they walk right in, get pissed that we were literally playing the same shit they were playing down stairs, and at this point, our whiteness is just too awkward to not go downstairs.

We had a fucking blast, hood pierogis were made, had a bunch of henny/e&j, and there was a stripper pole. At one point, there was probably 50 people in and out of that apartment.

We felt like the coolest kids ever when we knew all the words to Welcome to Detroit City.

If you're in college, please do yourself a favor, meet some new people and culture shock yourself.
