What “classic” books don’t really hold up?

Similar, but even more unbelievable to me was in rhetoric freshman year my TA was talking about To the Virgins To Make Much of Time. The TA was trying to argue that it was a message to girls to seize the day and live life. I was the only one in class that was like, no, he’s telling guys to deflower virgins now while you’re young. You can marry later when you’re older. The TA even compared it to Only the Good Die Young from Billy Joel, again arguing that the message was not to be too fussy and perfect. I argued that it was him trying to convince a girl to loosen up so he could get in her pants. She (the TA) had never even considered that to be a meaning.
