I drive the same route home from work all the time, and I usually keep GPS on quiet just in case it can route me around traffic issues. Anyway, this one night I'm headed back at like 11:30pm and cruising down the highway. I'm headed north right now I have one last 20 mile stretch of road to clear before I turn west. Now this road is pretty much empty because it's not a primary route for traffic.

My phone tells me to pull of at the next exit suddenly, which only gives me about five seconds to make the decision. I took the exit and followed along as it sent me west now into the middle of nowhere. I'm taken down lots of winding roads further west until it eventually becomes a gravel road. At this point I have to slow down to around 20 miles per hour tops and this road is cutting through heavily wooded areas with gravel driveways leading up to houses. I was going down and down into a small valley it seemed; through the windshield I could see way up above me on the hill about a thousand feet up there was this massive power station or radio tower with a slow blinking red light on top. It was surrounded by heavy duty fences and lit up clearly, and it looked like my gravel path eventually lead up to it.

At this point I was pretty freaked out because google maps insisted I was on the right path and there was no reasonable way for me to turn around. I also did not want to drive up to some power facility in the middle of the night on some creepy ass road. Man it was a weird experience. I eventually got up to the place and drove right by, and saw nobody there, and eventually the road turned back into asphalt. The whole experience was just bizarre and creepy.
