Ehhh, my wife's old apartment was in a multi-unit semi-attached house that would be hovering around ~$1.3-1.5 million on the market these days - located in Woodside, NY (Queens). It had roaches galore because the landlord who lived on the second was a hoarder and came from the old country. He would dry fish and vegetables and preserve all sorts of food in the hallways and in his own apartment, prime for pests to munch on. Every night, we would go to the kitchen for a drink and see them swarming everywhere, having the opportunity to kill at least 10 within seconds of walking in, and dozens escaping. One month she caught 5 mice using her electrical zapper thing, until we blocked off the enlarged hole near the radiator base with one of those can expanding foams.

Meanwhile, this castle in Italy is €990k ($1.126 million USD) and looks to be in far better shape and less pest filled.
