What genuinely terrifies you?

Due to a traffic stop my wife is facing 5 years in prison. She was the passenger and super drunk, probably should have been taken to the hospital. The driver was arrested and the deputy wanted to search the car. He woke my wife up and told her to exit the vehicle. She drunkenly refused, she couldn't walk anyway. She didn't recognize this man as a police officer, he was just a man she didn't know who is now forcing her from her car. She was scared and threatened to stab him even though she was too drunk to even walk. It was like a rape nightmare to her, she didn't know what was going on.

At this point he manhandled her and arrested her. She woke up in a jail cell not knowing what happened and covered in bruises. The deputy cited her for Felony Terroristic Threats and Acts, which is a bullshit charge. The DA changed it to Felony Obstruction, which is for willingly and knowingly obstructing an officer while threatening to or attempting to harm him. She was passed out drunk as a passenger in her vehicle and incapable of knowingly doing anything and definitely too drunk to harm anyone. She acted out of instinct.

I can't believe that someone with a squeaky clean record might go to prison for five fucking years because she was too drunk to cooperate. This is someone who recently got back from a tour in Afghanistan. This is a Sergeant in the US Army who follows orders every day. Now this Deputy had her thrown in jail and the DA is trying to put her in prison.

If you run into the wrong cop it can ruin your life. We've been stressing about this for 4 months. She was on orders to a new duty station but can't move until this is resolved. If convicted she'll be discharged from the military, probably dishonorably. We have 2 more weeks until trial. It almost doesn't seem real because it's so ridiculous.

I didn't mind the police until this incident. Now I can't stand them.
