TLDR; I got assigned week's worth of detention because my teachers were all asshats except 1...
My senior year of highschool my last class of the day was study hall. One morning I get a note saying that I had been marked absent for that one class and that I was needed to report to detention after school that day.
So, I went to my study hall teacher and told him that he skipped over me when he did attendance yesterday and he needs to sign off on my detention since I was in class. His response was: "according to my attendance record you weren't here, I can't help you." I tried to argue with him and remind him that he even yelled at me to turn my music down because he could hear it. But he wouldn't budge. So I had to the main office after school and ask where detention was. I had never had detention before, so I honestly didn't know. They tell me which room and that a teacher will be there shortly. After 30 minutes. No teacher shows up. So I go back to the office and tell them no one ever showed up there. Was that really the right room? Of course it was.
Two days later, I get another note. I am to report to the principal's office for skipping detention. So I go to the principal's office and he lectures me for 20 mins on how my attitude toward class needs to change and if I don't start coming back to school and following the rules that I will end up cleaning up trash for the rest of my life. Whatever, - joke was on him that was my after school job at the time. I tried to explain to him what was actually happening and he didn't want to hear my "excuses".
Show up Monday after school for my week of detention and it's my English teacher. "What are you doing here?" I tell her it's a long story and I basically just want to serve my time and get the hell out of here. She looks at her notebook and goes "Oh, you had detention a few days ago? I didn't know I had anyone that day so I didn't show up. Here, let me sign off on all this. Okay, go home!" After watching her sign all the papers and checking all my days off. I almost gave her a hug and ran the hell out of there.
