What is it that interferes with speaking, in non-speaking people?

I wouldn't call some of the stuff she's said and done "passive" hostility. Plus, my mother does react to me personally; she treats me differently from my siblings, even though we are likely all on the spectrum (and I'm one of the least obvious about it). Granted, there are other issues at play (she has directly blamed me for the circumstances behind my own birth), but she does directly attack and judge me on the basis of my cognitive difficulties, including saying that I'm mentally incompetent because I have difficulty speaking.

I understand what it is that you're trying to say, but I don't think it applies in my situation.

I don't even know where I would begin concerning screening and/or treatment.

Would getting any kind of diagnosis actually help at this point? I'm 22 years old, and employed. I'm worried that getting an official diagnosis might make my employer reconsider my position with the company...
