What is the most dangerous encounter you've had with an animal?

I used to be the head trainer at a horse breeding farm, and one day I'd just finished working one of our young stallions. He liked to roll, so I untacked him and took him to the round pen, turned him loose, and just stood there while he looked for a place to roll. Someone came up and asked me a question, so I turned away from him to answer it. Next thing I know the person I was talking to shouts, "Look out!" and I turned around to see the stallion charging at me. He bit my shoulder hard enough to lift me up and knock me down, then started stomping on me. The person I was talking to grabbed a whip and managed to chase him off.

Amazingly enough, I wasn't really hurt. I had a wicked bruise from the bite, and a few other bruises elsewhere, but somehow that was it. I was pretty sure I was going to die for a second there.

We also have no idea what set the horse off. He was actually one of my favorite horses and never displayed any behavior like that before or since.
