What is the most extreme example of helicopter parenting that you have ever witnessed?

I'm going to be buried here but here it goes.

While not the worst story here my mother is her own special brand of controlling. I was not allowed to pick out the clothes I was going to wear for the day (out of a selection that she bought) until I was in high school, she refused to let me comb my own hair until I was nearly 10 years old because I "couldn't do it right," I was not allowed to have any friends she disapproved of (she actually made me "unfriend" a few people for reasons ranging from they were too rowdy to she didn't like their parents), I wasn't allowed to hang out with friends after school or on weekends, my music/reading choices had to be approved by her (most notably I wasn't allowed to listen to Stone Temple Pilots because the music was "too angry" or read magazines because she disapproved of the models) and when I reached middle school would inspect my pimples with a magnifying glass every night which she would then pick at until my face was "perfect."

Let's just say there's a reason why I chose to go to a college 3 hours away from my hometown and don't have a close relationship with her.Woman would control every single aspect of my life if I let her. Luckily I have a backbone.

TL;DR: How control your children to be exactly how you want them to be. How to have that not work and have them run away from you. I'LL TEACH YOU ALL THIS, IN 8 EASY STEPS!
