What was that one pivotal moment that changed the course of your life forever?

I was out of high school for quite a few years, and had established a coke addiction over the course of a year. I taught myself how to program during that period.

I got really really high one night, and applied to a major university. I think it was while I was coming down, and I think I was depressed with how my life was going. I woke up the next day not really remembering having done this.

A few days later I got an acceptance letter. I had a shit GPA from high school mainly due to drug problems and lack of motivation. So, my acceptance was largely based off of an entrance exam my parents had forced me to take years ago.

I went through the last of what I had, cleaned up, and then started University a couple weeks later.

I've done decent in the math requirements, and have aced just about everything else thus far. I'm halfway through my degree, and have already gotten salary offers that included relocation and such.

If I hadn't acted so impulsively, I'd probably be working a shit job or dead from an overdose.

TLDR; Got really high on coke, applied to a university on a whim, got accepted, sobered up, been killing it.
