Do not go here to surf. The waves are meh and no one who doesn't live there goes there to surf. It is filled with a bunch of tourists and newbies who don't know how to surf. You will get hurt.

The street performers are usually "cool" to watch, but almost always rude. If you watch and don't pay they get real mean real quick.

Think it's a public place? It's not. There is no smoking (Tobacco or Otherwise) allowed anywhere on Venice Beach. Not on the boardwalk, not on the beach, and not in any alley. While they usually don't enforce this, it is a law.

Dogs are NOT allowed on the Venice Beach on the weekends or holidays between 11am and 8pm. You will get ticketed.

There is a small section of the boardwalk that is maybe 50 feet long filled with "rappers" who will give you a cd or ask you to listen to their music. If you take that cd, they will demand you pay and not accept the cd back. They also tend to be jerks.

If you don't like weed, don't even bother going. It smells like weed everywhere because they have around (no lying) 50 weed shops.

The people who do tattoos and piercings are mostly jerks and overcharge. If you ask them questions they will look at you like you just asked them the 50th digit of pi.

Muscle Beach Gym is not a gym, it is an attraction. To workout there for one day is $10. For a week, $50. For a year, $170. Starting to see something strange?

Most people that come here are teens/ college kids who wanna get drunk during the day and tourists. For those who live in LA, most of us know to never go to Venice Beach. Redondo Beach is leagues better and has much better dining options plus a big ass arcade nearby (The same one in Dexter where the Trinity Killer abducted that kid).
