Straight couples rub it in your face all day long, you just don't realize it because that's normal to you and you accept it. Go outside right now, you'll see them hugging and holding hands on the street. You'll see ads depicting them on jewelry and clothing stores.

But gay people are "rubbing it in your face" when they try to have the same things? Or am I misinterpreting your definition of rubbing it in your face?

Ultimately I think people just want it to be as accepted as seeing a straight couple in the street is. We aren't there yet. Instead of just accepting it as normal, people say they don't want it rubbed in their face -- they don't want to see it in public
