Hold on a second. I'm female and queer here. Homosexuality and pedophilia are both things a person can't control. The difference is one is ok between two consenting adults and the other is never ok. We all know that. They're right to compare them because they have a comparable quality.

What I think they mean by "legitimizing" is acknowledging that it is an uncontrollable feature a person can have but it's not they are not morally wrong until they act upon it. I don't believe a person is bad because of something they can't control.

If a person knows they're pedophilic and knows it's wrong, then I believe they deserve a chance to receive help. The problem is, society sees these people as scum of the earth which only makes them want isolate that part of them, which will only lead to worse things. Child molesting is a crime and should be treated as such but putting them in jail will only push the problem aside, not solve the problem. Pedophilia should be fixed not locked away.
