What’s the weirdest/most awkward thing that the high school you’ve attended has promoted/done?

I had these 2 friends growing up - Erin and Casey - and I don't know if it was "weird" but there was an incident at my high school where an anonymous person rang the school with a "tip" saying that Erin was having an affair with a teacher. It wasn't true. It was a 100% fabrication. Erin was 16 and had a huge crush on the guy and that was it. So it was the biggest mystery as to who called in with this tip. Casey became the prime suspect because she was famous for making prank calls.

I had moved schools by that stage but I'd remained close-ish to both of them. The shit hit the fan when it happened.

Everyone went batshit. He was suspended. Erin's parents were called and there was numerous interviews where she was basicallly interrogated. It was hell for her.

The teacher ended up being transferred. His reputation was toast all due to this petty fucking lie.

As the prime suspect, Casey's life became a nightmare and honestly she was a little shit at that age. At that point I was closer to Erin, but I realised soon enough that even if Casey was guilty she was getting bullied at school to an unacceptable degree because of it even though there was no proof she did it.

It's been almost 15 years and it's still a mystery who made the call. Casey and I became best friends in our early adult years and if she's guilty, she's taking that secret to the grave.
