When I was 10, and we’ll before the movie. We used to have our version of fight club. We called it King of the Hill and whoever gained the high ground had to hold it. This meant beating the person off of the hill to take it yourself. We only had one rule. No punches above the neck. Well one day my mom saw me without my shirt on and freaked out because I was covered in bruises all over my arms and chest. “How did this happen ?”
“ I don’t know..”
My parents lost their minds and took me to the hospital where I spent 3 days. They drew blood and did numerous tests. All the while constantly asking me if I knows where the bruises came from. Now this was the late 70’s and I’m sure my parents were questioned by CPS, but I had just created the second rule of King of the Hill, “never talk about the King of the Hill game. “
The dr’s had figured that I had low amounts of bufferin in my blood and that may be causing the clotting. Told my parents to give me bufferin and keep an eye on me.
We disbanded Fight Club after I got back from the hospital. About 5 years ago I told my dad the whole truth. He lost his shit. We had a laugh, but he made it really clear that they were being accused of some kind of abuse. Lol.
