At the time I had for months been working on lucid dreaming, and in the process had gotten into the regular habit of waking up, writing down the exact time, and writing what I could remember of my dream.

One morning I woke up earlier than usual, and wrote down my dream. A handful of cops were standing around in some driveway, and then I was instantly awake. Unusually for me I was just wide awake, knew there was no returning to bed, and stayed up for the rest of the day.

Later that day I learned that a relative of mine two time zones away had, called 9-11, told them he was going to shoot himself, and asked them to send somebody over. A few minutes later he called 9-11 back and asked where the cops were. He was told they had arrived at his house and were standing in the driveway.

The police report listed the same time he shot himself as the time I had woken up from that dream, to the minute.
