What is the ultimate cure against hickups?

PLEASE READ (sorry for caps lock)

Ok I have the ultimate cure. I have never ONCE seen it fail. Ever.

You can’t hiccup while you’re drinking water. Hiccups are caused by involuntary spasms in the diaphragm, so often the goal is to find some stimulus that overrides the spasm.

What always works for me is to get a small glass of water maybe quarter of the way full, and begin drinking it. Drink it very slowly, but keep pouring the water continuously and basically constantly fly slowly gulping it down.

You cannot hiccup while you do this. Your body won’t let you. As long as you keep going for roughly 30 seconds (longer is always better), when you stop you will no longer be hiccuping. The entire time you drink like this you will not hiccup.

TLDR: Just see how slowly you can constantly gulp a small glass of water.

I’ve told countless people this and it always works. Sometimes people are afraid they’ll hiccup as they drink so they stop, but as long as you trust it and keep going you’re golden.
