In what ways do you exercise your white privilege to gain unfair advantage?

There are no native white people in SE Asia. If you're white, in Thailand, for example, then you obviously have money. Either working there, or as a tourist.

There are plenty of native white people in SE Asia - where are you getting these assumptions from? Many transplants, for example, work at Thai companies, make Thai incomes, marry Thai women, and have children and create entire families in the country. They make Thai money, not the money from their home country.

The locals don't worship white people for their whiteness, but because it's a surefire indicator of (comparative) wealth.

They do. With a culture obsessed with skin whiteness as a mark of beauty and prestige, simply being white is a huge advantage even when money is taken completely out of the equation.

Whiteness is associated with wealth as well. But, if you're a black man who is rich you're still going to be treated differently (poorly).

That's the only reason why reasonably attractive Thai girls are hanging out with old, ugly white guys. Let's not dress this up as anything other than it is.

No one was dressing it up...at all.

I don't know what you're talking about with the marginalisation and persecution shit.

... you don't know what I"m talking about with black minorities throughout the US and UK being marginalized and persecuted... seriously? Like "OMG -what is racism?"

Whitening of skin is just a fad amongst some people in some countries

No...no it's not. It's deeply ingrained within the culture. When you look at pictures of a Japanese Geisha from three hundred years ago do you say it was a "fad" when girls in Japan walk around with umbrellas so their skin doesn't get tan?

When you see the hundreds of years of Chinese history idolizing white skin (because tanned skin meant you were a peasant toiling in the fields) and you see Chinese people obsessing over making their skin whiter now...you cannot possibly call that a "fad".

I doubt you've even traveled to Southeast Asia or spent time studying Asian history.

just as trying to be a ghetto black person is a fad amongst some people in other countries.

What? Where are the hundreds of years of history where being a "ghetto black man" became part of the culture? Was this before or after they were slaves throughout most of the known world for hundreds of years.

How is a small minority sub-culture of black rappers and hip-hop artists somehow comparable to the main-stream prominence of Asia's centuries-long fetishism with white skin?
