What would have to go right/wrong for the Panthers to upset the Seahawks?

  1. I simply said you never provided any evidence- I saw the charts. The same charts, by the way, that make Geno Smith just about as good as Wilson.

  2. I really think this whole conversation is boiling down to my idea of phenomenal passers as a non-homer compared to your idea of a phenomenal passer as a homer.

  3. In my original statement I simply suggested that Russell wouldn't be as effective without his legs. Yes, he has good stats, but that doesn't mean it hasn't hurt forcing defenses to keep an extra man or two on/near the line to help keep him in check.

  4. If you want obscure stat measurements, I'll give you one- this is another variation of QB ratings that incorporates more than stats. It's actually from a reputable stats page, and lists Wilson just north of Sanchez, Tannehill, and yes Cam. Statistics are interesting, but not always revealing of the whole story (back to the Geno Smith thing). If you play around and checkout all-time season leaders, the only one of Wilson's seasons that makes a cut in the last eight years is 2012, and it's rather far down.

So it's okay to think of him as a great passer who just doesn't pass often.

  1. I've never said he wasn't a great passer. I've actually gone out of my way to say he is a great QB. My intent has always been that is isn't phenomenal, because to me, that's what I reserve for the elite.

In summary- You're never going to convince me I'm wrong. because this is the internet and everyone just pulls up facts and statistics that prove their opinions right. Besides, the fact of the matter is (see, I'm making shit up right now) this whole argument, that's taken up hours with multiple contributors hasn't been about whether or not Russell Wilson is a good QB. It's a given premise that he is a great QB, and from there we've been debating whether or not he's a phenomenal QB and it all comes down to semantics. And you get to cheer for him every weekend, the guy in the center of this whole good/great/phenomenal debate; just shut up and enjoy the show.
