What's the "dropping the pick inside the guitar" equivalent in your hobby?

I do a little watchmaking as a hobby and dropping a screw is always a pain. Most of them are less than a few millimeters in length and will bounce several meters across a hardwood floor and hide for an hour or more.

The last thing I want is magnetized watch parts so using a high-powered magnet to sweep the floor is not an option as those demagnetizers don't work as well on itty bitty little screws as they do large screwdrivers.

Sweeping up and searching the dust pan is one way to find a lost screw but I have found that holding a laser parallel to the floor and sweeping across it surface can sometimes spot the screw if you keep the place clean. Also, taking your shoes off and walking barefoot until you step on it is another way. They aren't anywhere as noticeable as a Lego but if you're a tenderfoot like me you can still feel them.
