What's the problem here?

I mean if you dress, act, and compete as a man up until you transition are you not a man for most intents and purposes up until that point? Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there no indication that they wanted to be referred to or thought as a woman up until right when they transitioned. I'm not saying what they themselves felt as in their head, but what you are to anyone who isn't a mind reader. I'm saying in regards to what they publically broadcast themselves as they used to be a man. It's not the point as when/if you get reassignment surgery but the point at when you make it known to the world. It seems they treated and thought of themselves as a man up until a point when they realized "hey this might not be who I am I might be trans". I feel the bathroom door thing has nothing to do with the feeling they might have had in their head all along of being a woman, but of what they publically broadcasted themselves as previously. There is a difference between your mental self and your public persona. I personally feel it isn't an issue to recognize the public persona of "Bruce" that used to exist. Does that make sense?
