Oh boy, I’ve already answered but I just remembered another!

I used to work for a company who do huge trade shows around the country. We would stay away for 4 or 5 days at a time which was hard enough for me. I didn’t want the awkward 4 hour car ride home with my colleagues after packing up the stand so I told them I was staying with family in London that last night of the show, so it would be more convenient for me to leave the show and make my own way via train.

I thought my plan was genius. I could put my headphones on and zone out for the journey all the way home. Well.. the first train was delayed which meant I missed my connecting train, the next (last) train was cancelled and I ended up stranded in a strange city on my own having a panic attack.

The rail staff had no idea why was going on and couldn’t give me any answers about what to do (this is one of the busiest stations in the country) I ended up having to train hop in packed carriages to get to the closest station to home I could and when I finally got there (an hours drive from home) it was so late they locked me out of the station and I was stranded yet again, in a strange city in the middle of the night. My poor boyfriend had to drive all the way out to get me.

The journey took about 8 hours and had I just got in my colleagues car they would’ve dropped me at my door 4 hours after leaving the trade show.
