What's with people in this sport posting gold medals on their IG when they went 1-0?

i've competed a lot in wrestling and somewhat in BJJ. probably like 2 years of bjj competition and wrestling my whole life.

Your example is a good point, but it's a bit out of context. Tye and Mica are professional athletes, they've proven themselves in other events. I'm not talking about having multiple matches in 1 day. It's the fact that in order to win a tournament you have to win multiple times in a row. Put each of those matches on separate days if you want and that's still way harder than having a single match and being done. You have to be the best on multiple occasions. This is why we relish watching some of the top level guys , because they are consistently at that amazingly high level and also why Tye vs Mica was still a great match and fun to watch. We already knew that in order to even get there they both needed to win beforehand.

Also, i'm not even talking about black belt adult.
