Dealing with under aged assholes. I work in a vape shop (I know that automatically makes me bad to some of you subjective thinkers out there.) Here in California the legal age to buy nicotine and nicotine related products is 21, that includes vapor devices and 0mg juices. Damn near once a day some shitty little fuck walks in and tries to slip by some shit. “Oh, I uhhh... forgot my I.D.” Is the main dumb fuck comment, as if that is going to make me go “Oh, well, despite the braces and pimples you must be 21!”
The high school kids are annoying as is, 16 year olds thinking they pass for 21 and throwing a temper tantrum when we tell them to get the fuck out of the shop. (Legally speaking they aren’t even supposed to be inside because we offer samples at the bar.) But the 18-20 year old college kids are the fucking worst. I’m only 22, but I feel ten times older than them. “Uhm, okay, well I know the owner!” which they never fucking do. “I’ll bring my I.D. next time!” as if that covers our ass from being fined. “Come on, stop being such an asshole!” As if it’s my problem they are too stupid to buy online.
But by far, the best one ever, was this group of sorority girls. The second we walked in we knew none were old enough to buy. They were loud as hell and obnoxious the entire time. When we told them we weren’t going to sell them all a fucking Juul they argued a shit load, then one goes “Well, I was here the other day, and another guy sold me one.” Which was funny, because me and the GM are the only employees, and we were both standing right there. We played along and made her describe the guy, then threw out a name as if we knew him, and then just started laughing at her. “What’s so fucking funny?” She asked, and my boss just goes “You’re shitty lie about a made up employee who never worked here.”
She continued her temper tantrum for a little, then she made a real dumb move. She smacks the glass over our case and goes “Sell it or I’ll break the glass.” And my Gm gets this big smile and goes “Do it bitch. We have seven cameras in this room, two can see your face right now. Three of you are wearing your sorority jackets. You do it and I’ll have you arrested by tomorrow morning, I will press charges for trespassing, assault, and damage to personal property. And I will try to smash your cars lights in before you leave here.” The look on her face that turned from anger, to pure fear was absolutely amazing. The funniest part was them trying to act like they won in some way by launching shit arguments at us.
I know it seems a little over the top from how I explained it, but I can not put in to words just how horrible they were acting. We have other customers and they are screaming at the top of their lungs, blasting music from multiple phones, and calling us rude names while trying to convince us to break the law for them. I hope she comes back in when she turns 21, because we are still going to refuse service to her. She treated us like shit, and we are a private business. We can deny anybody. So she can come in, slap her license down, and give some shitty “Guess you gotta serve me now” grin, and I can show her right back out.
