Crossing the road on a really narrow street; between two parked cars. I could see the oncoming vehicle but the unknown child stepping off the curb at speed next to me; couldn’t as he wasn’t tall enough to see over the hood.

He brushed pass me; into path of the van. I grabbed the hood of his red jacket and pulled him back into the space between the two cars; with the squealing of brakes from the Ford.

His mom was right behind us and witnessed the whole thing. After she calmly told her son off; she gazed up at me and smiled. She rose to her feet placed her hands behind my head and planted an absolute smacker of a kiss right on my lips and said “I love you”
