Who are some celebs who are divisive when it comes to their talent level?

You are mistaken and I suspect you know it. The settlement that was reached only covers the financial award the jury gave to each side. The jury have the ability to award damages, even "punishment" or punitive damages like the 5 million they hit AH with.

In a civil trial the collection of the debt is not automatic nor is it automatically enforced by the court. It's up to each individual party to collect what was awarded to them by a jury. It's probably not a coincidence that Heard sold her house two weeks after the verdict.

There are various ways that the courts can be utilized, like liens, asking a judge for a financial disclosure hearing or a forensic accounting of assets. This is time consuming, expensive, often unproductive and involves further use of the legal system.

For example, OJ SImpson was hit with tens of millions in civil penalties yet decades later has paid very little of that money. Why? Because collecting on a civil debt is hard and the court doesn't assist you unless you hire lawyers and take action.

To claim that two parties who are at the appellate stage, post verdict, who have reached an agreement to satisfy the jury's financial penalties somehow means

The trial verdict no longer exists.

is ridiculous. If we're using YouTubers as proof here's a link to Andrea Burkhart, a practicing appeal lawyer, commenting on the withdrawal of the appeals and the settlement. Emily D Baker says the same but I figure one Youtube link is enough.

The settlement was reached after a verdict was issued by a jury and the only way such a verdict can be changed at this stage would be the filing of an appeal to a higher court.

Which both sides did. Then, for whatever reason, they came to an agreement regarding the financial judgments against them and both sides withdrew their appeals. That and their agreement to pursue no further legal action on this matter mean that the verdict will stand. Forever.

All of this is public information available and it will eventually appear on the Fairfax County website and in the Court of Appeals if it isn't there already. The Appeals Court is slow but I believe the withdrawal of her appeal has already been submitted and accepted by the Appeal Court in Virginia.

This is such a basic point of law that I have to believe you know what you claim is false and are simply trying to invalidate a jury verdict that clearly states Amber Heard lied about being abused by Johnny Depp before and during their marriage.

Downvotes don't change the law. It doesn't change the fact she withdrew her appeal. Or that she was found to have lied about her claims of DV, lies which were defamatory.

You're entitled to your opinion about who you believe in this situation but you aren't entitled to your opinion on whether or not a jury verdict still stands simply because the two sides made a deal to satisfy the financial judgments levied by a jury.

At some point in the future both sides will file paperwork with the trial court saying that the financial judgment has been satisfied and that will be the end of it.

Again, both sides had actually filed their initial appeals. I believe each side had also responded to the other's initial appeal (which is how it works) before announcing this settlement.

The court of appeals then received notice from both sides asking for permission to withdraw their appeal. It's usually a formality and may have already been dismissed by the appeals court, I really haven't been following any of this. I know some people desperately want this to "void" or somehow invalidate the verdict but it doesn't.

The only power that could change the verdict at this point was the appellate court from which Heard and Depp withdrew their appeals. Technically a higher court could overturn the verdict as well but those courts decide what cases they hear.

Despite Twitter and crisis PR firms the law still works the way it works, not the way you want it to work.

According to what we know of the settlement, there won't be any more legal action on this case. If you disagree you are either mistaken or being dishonest.

Not only is the US verdict null and void,

Incorrect and I think you know it.
