WIBTA If I started using a singular they?

YWNBTA - Look... I don't want to be the kind of person who calls you an asshole over this. People should be who they want to be.

I will admit that I don't understand it, and I find it very confusing sometimes. I recently read an article in the UK about a singer called Sam Smith who is non-binary (a fact I was not aware off) and the whole referring to them as 'they' and 'them' in the article was confusing as hell. I really don't see why people can't be referred too as their biological sex and we all move on, but if you're not harming anyone else then do what makes you happy.

Just try not to be someone who goes crazy at people for genuine mistakes, if someone calls you the wrong pronoun in a non-malicious way then let it be. The world is becoming too crazed over making villains out of people for simple mistakes. For people who don't pay a lot of attention to all this it can be confusing and it can take time to catch up with terminology and not everyone means to be hurtful. There are more than enough people out there who do mean to be harmful with what they say, feel free to be as angry as you want at those assholes!
