With all the UCF talk, we are really missing out on something really important as we look at the future of the FBS.

Does that plan include bombing the campuses of the other public universities in Florida to eliminate opposition? UCF doesn't get to decide whether or not it goes to a P5 conference. That would be determined by the Florida SUS Board of Governors and the state legislature. The political obstacles just within the SUS are likely insurmountable for UCF (e.g. South Florida, FIU and FAU would all fight this to the death unless they got to come along.) UF and FSU would go nuclear.

And even if UCF could surmount the obstacles within Florida, the only conference they could conceivably join would be XII. If there was a serious proposal to put UCF in the ACC, schools like Duke and North Carolina would stop at nothing to scuttle it. You think the Duke University Board of Trustees wants to break bread with a regional state university? Not a snowball's chance.
