The Butterfly Haven of Mersal. In ancient times, architects had worked the stone in exquisite ways, creating terraces, balconies, and tunnels in the rock face of the Vethi Ascent (a large cliff face with several waterfalls pouring into the vallreys below.) I don't quite know a word for the tunnels, but only one side is solid, while the other is very open windows to gaze at the scenery. The walls are covered in glyphs/runes, and were once elaborately painted. It was abandoned after Lya's Call (giant shit storm that sort of magicnuked the society into the dark ages).

Over the years, the water eroded and defaced the beautiful work, until it was rediscovered by Josane and Vaeleron during their kingly father's war campaign in the western lowlands. Josane and Vaeleron's sons worked to restore it, and eventually created a private resort type thing for the royal family and their friends. Butterfly koi are said to have been imported by Josi as well, though there is no account of it in the royal ledgers.
